Sunflowers
Do not cut the sunflowers,
They were cut down once before -
On sunny fields where wheat once grew,
Where families played outdoors.
These golden rods that rise like Gods,
Mark graves of those mowed down -
Defending their land and freedom from
Monstrous thieves invading towns.
When vicious slaughter came
And could not be outrun -
When left alone to fight and die
Brave warriors all carried some -
Seeds of the mighty sunflower!
In the pockets of their clothes -
So forevermore all would know
Where they died these flowers grow.
